It has traditionally been difficult and time consuming to measure large corporate carbon footprints – even for Scope 1 and 2. The CO2Analytics AI driven solution produces a fast accurate comprhensive carbon footprint covering Scope 1, 2 and 3 quickly and cost effectively allowing businesses to get on with actioning a carbon reduction plan and delivering the savings.

The solution is based on actual spend at product and service level, and in practice high carbon areas represent high spend. Focusing the reduction strategy of these areas also reduces costs and increases profitability.

Savings

The solution identifies carbon hot spots allowing for highly targetted approaches. This delivers signifcantly larger cash and carbon savings for organisations since there is a full scope 3 analysis and complete coverage of both Scope 1 and 2.

The automated and replicatable nature of the analysis means that companies can run the analysis every 6 months if desired to speed up the delivery of savings.

Methodology

The reporting tool uses artificial intelligence to analyse large quantities of data quickly and accurately. It allows you to see the detail of all carbon footprints across the entire organisation, broken down to product and services level. This gives you a comprehensive picture, that you can look at via your Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions and see clearly which areas have the highest impact on your overall carbon footprint.

The analysis is carried using our e2class database of over 30 million products and 4 million organisations. This allows us to find out the carbon footprint of every item used by your organisation going from all your electricity bills to copier paper. The use of artificial intelligence combined with the comprehensive e2class database allows us to provide a report that is more comprehensive covering all your scope 1,2 and 3 emissions and more detailed going down to all the individual products and services at the same time as carrying out the analysis more quickly and cost effectively than more limited manual engagements.

The e2class database was built using a large multi disciplinary team lead by 6 professors and 6 Phd’s using a mixture of artificial intelligence, advanced classifications along with Multi Regional Input Output Method (MRIO) from the Stockholm Environment Institute, York University, Reading University and Goldsmith College London, and allows the process to be carried out in a timely and cost effective manner.
