Co2Analysis aims to provide comprehensive carbon footprints. The majority of most organisations carbon footprint is in their general purchases. This is called supply chain emissions and is part of Scope 3.
For the UK government it is 70% of emissions for the National Health Service around 60% and for most organisations it is over 50%.
Most analysis looks at
Scope 1 – the fuels you consume e.g. if you heat your buildings with Gas or the petrol/diesel used by your vehicles.
Scope 2 – the electricity you use – this is how much carbon was created by burning fuels to produce the electricity.
This is usually related to how much you spend on fuel and electricity and unless you are a taxi company or aluminum smelter it is a small proportion of your costs and your carbon footprint.
