Product carbon footprints

What if you could create a carbon footprint of everything you sell?

Send us your product catalogue as it is, with prices. GreenInsight cleans, classifies and footprints every line, so you get a carbon figure for each product you sell, not just a few flagship items.

The engine

Start with the catalogue you need to cover.

You don't need a bill of materials for every product to begin. Send your catalogue as it is, with prices. GreenInsight cleans, classifies and footprints every line.

The evidence behind each footprint

The strongest evidence first. Modelling only when needed.

GreenInsight reads every catalogue line – description, units, origin – and works down from the most specific evidence. If a similar product with the same specification already has a footprint, we use it. If none does, we model it.

One product, start to finish

From catalogue line to carbon footprint.

Take one line from an ordinary catalogue: a 3 mL syringe with a description, a pack size and a price, but no carbon data. Here's how the engine gets from that line to a footprint.

The knowledge behind it

Most products aren't new to us.

Over the years we've learned to recognise 74 million products, however messily they're described, and the 1.8 million attributes and components they're made from. So a new catalogue doesn't start from a blank sheet.

  1. 01Each catalogue line is classified against products we've already identified.
  2. 02Its recipe, an estimated bill of materials, comes with it.
  3. 03Carbon data is applied to the recipe and its country of origin.

Compare the routes

Three ways to get product carbon footprints.

Most routes either hand the work to your team or price each product as its own study. We start from the catalogue you already have and cover it in one go.

Options

Start with Rapid PCF. Go deeper where needed.

Every organisation is different. Pick the option that fits you best. Pricing is tailored to your catalogue and the level of analysis you choose.

Quick start

Rapid PCF

The fastest route to a footprint for every product.

You send

  • Your catalogue + prices

You get

  • A PCF for every product in your catalogue
  • Calculated using line-item MRIO modelling
Price£50 per productwith volume discounts

Go further

Enhanced PCF

Deeper analysis for your highest-impact products.

You send

  • Material information for the products, or BOMs (optional)

You get

  • More specific PCFs for your priority products, built from their materials or BOMs
PriceTailored to your scope
  • No extra cost

At every level, we use any LCA or EPD data you already have.

  • No extra work

If your ERP or manufacturing system already holds product breakdowns, we can extract the bills of materials from it.

  • Want more?

Add procurement and finance data for a line-item Scope 3 footprint. Top-100 product identification and overhead validation are also available.

For NHS suppliers

Supplying the NHS? April 2028 is coming.

NHS England's Net Zero Supplier Roadmap brings in carbon footprinting for individual products from April 2028. The NHS will set the scope and methodology with suppliers and regulators. Covering a whole catalogue takes time, so starting now gives you room to prepare.

Questions

What customers
ask first.

What data do we need to provide?

Your product catalogue as it is: product names and descriptions, pack sizes and units, and a buy or sell price. Supplier, manufacturer and country-of-origin details help where you have them. Bills of materials are optional.

Do we need a bill of materials for every product?

No. GreenInsight estimates each product's recipe from what we already know about similar products. If you do have bills of materials or material data, for example in your ERP system, we can use them for more specific results.

What do we receive?

With Rapid PCF, you get one CO2e figure for every product line in your catalogue. With Enhanced PCF, we go deeper on the products you choose, using their materials or BOMs where you have them.

Will this meet NHS supplier requirements?

The NHS hasn't yet set the scope and methodology for product-level footprints. It plans to agree them with suppliers and regulators ahead of April 2028. Footprinting your catalogue now gives you a baseline to build on as the requirements are confirmed.

What will it cost, and how long will it take?

Rapid PCF is £50 per product for catalogues of up to 200 products. Larger catalogues get a tailored quote with volume discounts. Enhanced PCF is priced to your scope. Results for a whole catalogue typically arrive within weeks.

Let's look at your catalogue.

Tell us about your situation and we'll recommend the right starting point, whether that's Rapid PCF across the catalogue or deeper analysis where it matters.
